Charlene Alouf, Ph.D., HCLD/TS(ABB)
Laboratory Director, RSCNJ; SJFC; Genomic Prediction
Charlene Alouf, Ph.D., HCLD/TS(ABB), is the medical science liaison for Genomic Prediction, New Brunswick, NJ, and off-site laboratory director the South Jersey Fertility Center, Marlton, NJ, and the Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey, Eatontown, NJ. She is also currently the compliance director at Tree of Life Fertility Center in California. Dr. Alouf is a reproductive technology laboratory consultant for IVF laboratory design and start-up, fertility laboratory operations, and international off-site laboratory director services with specialty licenses in New York State and New Jersey. She earned a Ph.D. in anatomy, cell biology and neurobiology and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. In 2022, Dr. Alouf earned an MBA at the University of Delaware. She is a longtime member of AAB and CRB and recently completed a term as president of CRB. She currently chairs CRB’s 2025 Meeting Committee. Dr. Alouf is a SART member and serves on the SART Advertising Committee. She is also a member of Alpha Scientists in Reproduction Medicine and ASRM. Dr. Alouf is the author of numerous scientific papers and most recently co-authored Recruiting and Cultivating Future Leaders in Laboratory Science with Drs. Alison Bartolucci and Sangita Jindal.
Marlane Angle, Ph.D., HCLD/CC(ABB)
Laboratory Director, Carolinas Fertility Institute and Caperton Fertility Institute
Marlane J. Angle, Ph.D., HCLD/CC(ABB), has been an active member of CRB for 16 years and has served on the board of directors and on several committees. She received her Ph.D. in physiology in 1983 from Auburn University, then completed two NIH funded postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX, and Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, TX. She trained in IVF at the University of California – San Francisco in the mid-eighties and became an ABB-certified High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) in 1994. Dr. Angle has been an onsite and offsite laboratory director for IVF programs across the country and has worked as a consultant with multiple companies, including Butterfly, InvoCell, Irvine Scientific, Previvo Genetics, DxNow, the World Egg Bank and Zephyr Analytics. Dr. Angle teaches in the master’s and Ph.D. programs at Eastern Virginia Medical School and has published more than 70 papers, abstracts and chapters. She has been president of the reproductive laboratory special interest group and a reviewer for the abstract committee at ASRM. Dr. Angle was one of the founders and a past president of the Southwest Embryology Summit and has been part of the organizing team for the Madison Clinical Embryology Summit meeting for four years. She recently finished a four-year stint on the CRB board of directors and ended her term as past-president in May 2024.
Michael D. Baker, Ph.D., HCLD/TS(ABB)
Laboratory Director, Inception Fertility
Michael D. Baker, Ph.D., HCLD/TS(ABB), earned a bachelor's degree in genetics from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in reproductive biology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He further honed his skills through intensive embryology training in Florida, where he gained a deep understanding of laboratory operations and optimized his technical proficiency. As an ABB-certified Technical Supervisor (TS) in embryology and High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD), Dr. Baker upholds the highest standards in reproductive medicine. Dr. Baker is the laboratory director for Aspire Fertility San Antonio, Aspire Fertility Dallas, and Pacific Fertility Center and a key leader within Inception Fertility. His involvement in the Inception laboratory steering committee has made significant contributions towards the optimization of SART data reporting and the implementation of electronic laboratory witnessing across the network. Dr. Baker's dedication to efficient and safe laboratory operations has positioned him as an advocate for balanced staffing models. His exceptional technical skills, reassuring expertise, and proven leadership have enabled him to form mentoring relationships with embryologists across the country with the goal of retaining the talent within our industry. He has served as the president of the Colorado Association of Reproductive Technologists (CART), a regional professional organization committed to advancing fertility treatment across the state. Currently, Dr. Baker is the director member on the CRB board of directors, and he holds a board position for the Southwest Embryology Summit (SWES).
Alison Bartolucci, Ph.D., HCLD(ABB)
Chief Scientific Officer, First Fertility
Alison Bartolucci, Ph.D., HCLD(ABB), is the chief scientific officer at First Fertility and ART laboratory director and assistant professor of OB/GYN and Cell Biology at the Center for Advanced Reproductive Services/University of Connecticut Medical School in Farmington, CT. Dr. Bartolucci has a passion for optimizing ART laboratory management and outcomes through targeted trouble shooting and team collaboration. She is currently the vice chair for SART’s membership committee and has served on the leadership committee of SRBT and SART’s executive council. She began her career as an embryologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and trained under the mentorship of Dr. Catherine Racowsky and the late Dr. Lynette Scott. She received her Master of Science degree in clinical embryology and andrology from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in 2005 and returned to EVMS almost 15 years later where she received her Ph.D. in clinical reproductive sciences in November 2019.
Sangita K. Jindal, Ph.D., HCLD(ABB)
IVF Laboratory Director, Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health
Sangita K. Jindal, Ph.D., HCLD(ABB), earned her Ph.D. in physiology from the University of Toronto, Canada, and became an ABB-certified High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) in 1997. Dr. Jindal has served on the faculty at New Jersey Medical School-Rutgers and for the last 22 years has been on the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York as professor and IVF laboratory director in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health. She has mentored grant-supported translational research projects for a number of trainees at academic programs and is also an off-site laboratory director of private and academic IVF laboratories across the country. Dr. Jindal currently serves as director-at-large on the ASRM Board of Directors, and as immediate past president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). From 2017-2023, Dr. Jindal served on the ASRM Practice Committee, she was research committee chair for SART from 2015-2020, and served as the co-president of the Society for Reproductive Biologists and Technologists (SRBT) in 2011. Dr. Jindal is a six-time recipient of the ASRM Star Award and has served on numerous national committees and task forces during her years of service to ASRM. She is a member of the editorial boards of Fertility and Sterility Reviews, and the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, and is a reviewer for Human Reproduction and Fertility and Sterility. Dr. Jindal has published over one hundred and thirty peer-reviewed journal articles and is regularly invited to speak at international meetings and conferences.
William Venier, M.Sc., ELD/TS(ABB)
IVF Laboratory Director, San Diego Fertility Center
William C. Venier, M.Sc., TS/ELD(ABB), has over 30 years of experience in human embryology, andrology, and state-of-the-art IVF laboratory techniques. He holds a Master of Science degree in human reproductive biology from Imperial College, University of London, and is an ABB-certified Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD) and Technical Supervisor (TS). Mr. Venier trained in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia with some of the most well-respected people in the field. Currently (since 2000), Mr. Venier is the IVF laboratory director for San Diego Fertility Center performing approximately 3500+ cycles per year. He is the co-founder of World Embryology Skills and Training (WEST). He has been an AAB member for over 25 years, is a member of ASRM/SART (since 1991). He is the founder of the Southern California Assisted Reproductive Biologists (SCARB).
