The CRB Education Committee is developing a new webinar series. Stay tuned for details or email aab-crb@aab.org with any suggestions.
Video Contest
- What: Submit a short (1-2 minute) video start with "I'm an embryologist, and today I'm doing ____"
- Why: The final video collage(s) will provide exposure and recruit embryologists into the field, highlighting the diverse activites that are involved in embryology.
- Prizes: The top videos will be selected by the CRB Education Committee. Prizes to be announced.
- Deadline: February 14, 2025
- How: Follow the links below to submit your video through the Dropbox file request and download the Consent Form. Contact Ethan Thomason at crb-aab@aab.org if you have any questions.
About
The mission of the CRB Education Committee is to advance the fields of andrology and embryology by fostering a collaborative community that supports education, communication, and professional development. Through focused workshops, accessible resources, and advocacy, we aim to empower laboratory professionals with the knowledge, skills, and guidelines necessary to enhance clinical practice and laboratory management. We provide timely educational opportunities, promote best practices, and facilitate meaningful connections that drive excellence in reproductive laboratory services.
Current Committee Roster:
Sharon Anderson, Ph.D., HCLD/ELD/CC(ABB) (Committee Chair)
Sharon H. Anderson received her MS in Animal Science and PhD in Physiology from Penn State University, where she specialized in reproductive physiology. She has been an IVF lab director for over 25 years. Dr. Anderson is also on the CAP Reproductive Medicine Committee, SART Registry Committee, World Health Organization RP2 Committee, and the ABB board. She was an adjunct associate professor at Drexel University College of Medicine and enjoys teaching andrology, embryology, and reproductive physiology.
Michael Baker, Ph.D., HCLD/TS(ABB)
In my current role, I serve Aspire Fertility San Antonio, Pacific Fertility Center, and Main Line Fertility as their Inception Fertility laboratory director. As the CRB Director Member, I lead the Membership & Credentialing committee and serve on the education committee to advance the engagement of our members in their pursuit of continuing education and certification. I am also passionate about furthering public awareness of our incredible profession.
Melanie Clemmer, Ph.D., HCLD(ABB)
Melanie Clemmer is the IVF Laboratory Director at the West Virginia University Center for Reproductive Medicine in Morgantown, WV. She is serving as the current president of CRB. She believes that education is a critical part of ensuring that our laboratories are successful for the long-term. Education is necessary to encourage innovation, collegial discussions and continuous improvement in the field.

Salustiano Ribeiro, M.Sc., TS(ABB), ELS/ALS(AAB)
Salu holds a position as a Senior Embryologist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His academic pursuits began at the University of California, Davis, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. During this period, he worked closely with Professor Berger on multiple Sertoli cell research initiatives.
Eager to further his education, Salu acquired a Master's degree in Clinical Embryology from the esteemed University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. His fervor for the subject brought him to the UCSF IVF lab, where he skillfully navigates information systems and regulations in the realm of Embryology. His areas of expertise encompass artificial intelligence, and microfluidic technology, as well as holding leadership roles in the Northern California Association of Reproductive Biologists (NCARB), College of Reproductive Biology (CRB), and the Society of Reproductive Biologists Technologists (SRBT).
In recognition of his commitment and proficiency, Salu co-authored a chapter in the acclaimed textbook Reproductive Biology (Yen & Jaffe's Reproductive Endocrinology, 8th Edition) with his fellow IVF Laboratory team members. This significant contribution now functions as a vital educational tool for learners at the UCSF School of Medicine.
