Laboratory Management and Leadership Development Workshop

The Leadership Workshop is not to be missed!

Greetings CRB Members!

The inaugural CRB Laboratory Management and Leadership Development Workshop will be held on Saturday, August 10th, at the Hilton Hotel, Grapevine/DFW Airport. With Dallas being centrally located and a hub for many airlines, we are hoping for record attendance. This initiative was developed in response to feedback gained at the 2023 CRB meeting and through the post-meeting survey.

The list of topics to be addressed are as impressive as the speakers that we have chosen for the panel. The workshop curriculum is perfect for laboratory professionals striving to excel in leadership or for those just beginning to enter such a role in their career.

  • Daring to Lead, with Sangita Jindal and Marlane Angle, includes building a learning, cohesive and successful team. This segment is optimal for laboratory staff moving into leadership roles and those already in leadership roles facing challenges with their teams.
  • I Didn’t Go to School for This, with Alison Bartolucci, includes governance, business management, and strategic operations within the lab team. As the climate of the modern ART lab shifts into a more corporate driven environment, it is becoming increasingly more important for laboratory leaders to expand their knowledge beyond gametes and embryos and understand the basic business strategies involved in running an ART lab. This session will provide an introduction into the business of IVF and how to keep up with the changing landscape.
  • Crossing the Aisle, with Bill Venier, includes effective collaboration with physicians, clinical staff, and administrators. This discussion includes solutions to improve clinic flow and setting the lab up for success. Revamping the system to reduce lab staff stress and improve responsibilities will be addressed.
  • Expecting the Unexpected, with Bill Venier, will include discussions on staffing models, daily scheduling, and staff support. This segment will focus on healthy team building and empowering your staff to address unexpected challenges. This session is expected to be very interactive so bring your complaints, ideas, and effective solutions.
  • Systems Checks, presented by Michael Baker, includes lab performance assessment, regulatory issues, and troubleshooting. The session aims to illuminate simple-to-use, under-utilized Excel tools that can be applied to any number of technical or operational troubleshooting activities, providing insights into data on a whole new level. Every challenge is unique, but these self-taught solutions provide you with a head start when problem solving within your laboratory and clinic.

The workshop will end with a panel discussion stimulated by audience questions and comments. Knowing this crew, it is destined to be lively!

Whether you are an emerging leader in the reproductive laboratory or are a seasoned Supervisor or Director and are inclined to contribute to discussion or mentoring, then this workshop is a must for you. Additionally, we are pleased to offer continuing education credits (PEER- ABB) for up to 8.5 contact hours.

Attend to learn, attend to share, and attend to receive CE credit.

Preliminary feedback for the workshop has been positive, off the charts really; it is sincerely a pleasure to Chair this committee for CRB.

Best wishes for an amazing summer –
