NILA Calls On CMS To Increase Travel Allowance By
Additional 8 Cents Per Mile - June 23, 2008

Today the Internal Revenue Service increased the federal mileage rate from 50.5 cents to 58.5 cents per mile, effective July 1, 2008, to December 31, 2008. 

As a result, NILA is calling on CMS to increase the Part B travel allowance by an equivalent amount.  Just recently, CMS announced that it would be increasing the Part B travel allowance by 2 cents, from 48.5 cents to 50.5 cents, as of July 1 (with a retroactive effective date of January 1, 2008). 

NILA is asking CMS to add an additional 8 cents per mile to the travel allowance, effective July 1, 2008.
